what a beautiful day to not be in high school
i think heartstopper is very good for what it is - a lighthearted series aimed at young teens. it starts to fall flat on every level when you try and analyze it as anything else. "why is this" "why did they that" bc its a coming-of-age series for lgbt 12-15 year olds. thats why.
like i generally agree w the argument that lgbt stories are being sanitized and desexualized in order to be presented in the mainstream but i also think that maybe in this case its bc its a show for little babies. and no one wouldve batted an eye and made those arguments if this was another cishet story
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
was talking to my gf about my fear of dying young for being trans and my mom putting my deadname on my gravestone, and she said "i hope that never happens, but if it does, i will carve your name into your grave myself if i have to." and i think theres something extremely raw about that sentiment and trans community in general. you can kill only our bodies, but you cant kill transsexuality
If you are over 18 and do not want your parents to have control over your body after you die or if you go into a coma or something, take that power away from them. They are your automatic next of kin unless you get married which is why they have control over those things. But getting married isn’t the only way to change that, an advanced directive can do the same. This video has more information
In general it is a good idea for *everybody* to have a death plan, but ESPECIALLY trans people, whose rights are continuously violated and ignored even after death. Do it now, give yourself that peace of mind that if something terrible happens to you tomorrow, your loved ones and the people you trust with your identity, will know what to do and protect your identity against those who think they know you better.

I've been having a lot of feelings about the downfall of quality lately.
I ordered a pair of Dickies pants because pants are hard and workwear is usually reliable. When they arrived they were the scratchiest, most papery material--I can't actually call it fabric in good faith--and fit a full three sizes too small. A week later I found the same pair in a thrift store, dated 2017. These are actual pants. They fit, they're not made of asbestos. They're only separated by time.
There's no wood used in interior design unless it's a custom build. I have a set of wealthy relatives who live in a condo. The downpayment for it was likely more money than I will see in my lifetime. The floors and the cabinets are all still laminate. I know I will never see real wood in a building constructed after 2000. Every "apartment hack" I see online has this very conspicuous, flat appearance because of all the paint and contact paper required to make these builds look personal in any way. The only natural materials are in the furnishings.
I've been harping on this for years, but everything is shit, nothing is designed to work, and "growth" and "profit" are just euphemisms for cutting corners until things are unworkable.
everything is more expensive, and everything is getting shittier.
